What are the different types of laboratory tests we offer?
There are several types of lab tests we can perform here at Family First Medical. Some areas of concern we are able to test for include chlamydia, drugs, flu, pregnancy, kidney problems, cancer etc.
Common lab tests include:
- Urinalysis – Urine tests for certain infections, pregnancy, or drugs
- Cultures – Tests for the flu or strep throat
- CBC tests – Complete blood count tests for signs of infections or other issues like anemia or leukemia
- Chemistry – Tests for signs of liver function problems, dehydration, or electrolyte abnormalities (sodium, potassium, etc.)
What can I expect at a laboratory testing?
Firstly, if you have been referred to our clinic for a test it is important that you bring in your referral form (If you have one). This will allow our clinic to serve you better.
For the test itself you will beasked to provide a sample for the clinic to test. Depending on the type of test, you will most commonly be asked to provide either a urine, blood, or throat swab.
After you have provided us with the sample you will then be asked to wait at the clinic for the test results or leave the clinic and wait at home for a call. (This depends on the type of test)
How soon can I expect my lab results?
At Family First Medical Group we have an onsite lab, therefore we can process your test ourselves instead of sending the test to another clinic for processing. However, the wait time to receive your results still depends on what you are being tested for. Please contact us at Family First Medical Group for further details.
